Mikel Bats Away Question About Extending His Contract With Middlesbrough
Published: April 16, 2019
Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel has refused to discuss his contract situation at Middlesbrough, with four games left before the end of the regular season.
The central midfielder inked a short-term deal with Boro in the January transfer window, after terminating his contract with Tianjin Teda, and would walk away as a free agent in the summer if he turns down a new contract.
From a personal point of view, Mikel is concentrating on his football and has not looked forward beyond the remaining four matches.
''No, no, to be honest, next four games is what I am looking forward to,'' Mikel told BBC's Matty Nixon.
''I don't know what's happening, I just have to do my job.
''I'm a Boro player and I'm concentrating on the next four games. Then we'll see what happens.''

Mikel has captained Middlesbrough in their last two league games, helping the club record two wins and two shutouts against Bolton Wanderers and Hull City.
