Nigerian Prodigy Battles Hazard, 6 Others For Chelsea Goal Of The Season Award
Published: April 24, 2019Through their official website , Premier League side Chelsea have announced the eight candidates in contention for the Goal of the Season Award and a Nigeria-eligible player has been listed.
Faustino Anjorin has been nominated for the award and faces competition from first-teamers Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Eden Hazard who has been shortlisted twice, Maren Mjelde, Magda Eriksson, Erin Cuthbert , Conor Gallagher and Jack Wakely.
Anjorin scored with a swerving long-range strike in Chelsea's 2-1 win at Brighton in an U18 Premier League fixture on October 6, 2018.
He netted 11 goals for Chelsea's youth teams prior to his spell on the sidelines, scoring in all the competitions he participated in, including the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2, UEFA Youth League, EFL Trophy, FA Youth Cup and U18 Premier League Cup.
An England U18 international, Anjorin began the season as a first-year scholar at the Stamford Bridge outfit before penning a professional contract in November, shortly after he celebrated his 17th birthday.
The winner of Chelsea's Goal of the Season award will be announced on Friday, May 10.
