Official : Uwakwe Offered New Deal By Chelsea; Eight Other Nigeria-Eligible Players Retained

In their player update, the 2019 Europa League winners confirmed that England youth international of Nigerian descent, Tariq Uwakwe has been offered a new contract.

The midfielder would be classed as a free agent come July 1 if he does not put pen to paper on the fresh deal.

In February, manager Maurizio Sarri invited Uwakwe to train with the first team ahead of their Premier League meeting with Tottenham Hotspur, and he was a valuable member of the youth team last season, featuring in the UEFA Youth League, EFL Trophy and Premier League 2.

Meanwhile, as many as eight Nigeria-eligible players have been retained by the Stamford Bridge outfit, including three who have made appearances for the Super Eagles.

Victor Moses, Kenneth Omeruo and Ola Aina have been retained along with Tammy Abraham, Fikayo Tomori, Faustino Anjorin, Ike Ugbo and Jordan Aina.
