Central Defender Eligible For Nigeria, Ireland, England Signs New Deal With Arsenal
Published: July 04, 2019English Premier League side Arsenal are expected to confirm their new intake of Academy scholars in the coming days.
It was earlier reported that midfielder Miguel Azeez, goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri and fullback Daniel Oyegoke have penned scholarship forms with The Gunners ahead of the start of the 2019-2020 season.
Arsenal youth team expert Jeorge Bird writes on his blog that Mazeed Ogungbo has signed scholarship terms with Arsenal.
The central defender has recorded 8 appearances for the young Gunners in the U18 Premier League since making his debut in April 2018 and also featured in the FA Youth Cup and U18 Premier League Cup as a schoolboy.
Ogungbo has been capped by Republic of Ireland at U16 level and is also eligible to represent Nigeria and England.
All U17 players are required to start the 2019-2020 season on a scholarship arrangement before they are permitted to sign their first professional contract on or after their 17th birthday.
