United States Mulling Over Call-Up For Lincoln City Teen Sensation Eligible For Nigeria, England
Published: July 14, 2019
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the United States Soccer Federation are considering inviting Lincoln City teen sensation Jordan Adebayo-Smith to one of their national teams in the coming months.
Few weeks into pre-season training, the 18-year-old has proved that his performance last season was no fluke, scoring four goals in two games including a hat-trick against Lincoln United on July 6.
Born in California to Nigerian parents, Adebayo-Smith is eligible to represent Nigeria, England and United States internationally but it is the Americans that have made the first move to cap him.
United States Soccer Federation scouts have been watching him and recently opened a line of his communication with his minders over the possibility of playing for the United States.
The striker might be called up to one of the United States youth teams in the near future, the 2001-born player can play for their U18, U19, U20 and U23 squads.
He made his senior debut for the Imps in a 2-2 draw against Accrington Stanley in an EFL Trophy match on December 4, 2018 and was named Academy Player of the Season for 2019.
