Arsenal's Amaechi To Join Hamburg For €2.5M; Everton Star Is Most Expensive 18-Year-Old Nigerian
Published: July 27, 2019According to reports in Germany, Xavier Amaechi's transfer to Hamburg is imminent after Arsenal accepted a bid in the region of 2.5 million euros from the 2. Bundesliga side.
Hsv24.mopo.de says the winger will fly to Germany on Monday to undergo a routine medical and then sign a contract until the summer of 2023.
Amaechi is expected to play for the professional squad of Hamburg if the deal goes through, a leap in his career considering that he has yet to make his debut for Arsenal's first team.
Despite the huge transfer fee for a teenager, the Hale End Academy product will not have the title of the most expensive 18-year-old Nigeria-eligible player in history.
Dennis Adeniran remains the costliest Nigerian U18 player of all-time, after Everton paid 4 million pounds to sign him from Fulham in August 2017.
Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Nwakali cost 3.5 million euros each when they joined Wolfsburg and Arsenal respectively after starring at the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup.
