Ex-Manchester United Midfielder Likens Joe Aribo To Liverpool Legend Steven Gerrard
Published: August 26, 2019
Former Manchester United midfielder Michael Stewart has reserved special praise for Joe Aribo and likened him to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, who coaches Glasgow Rangers.
Aribo was the second Nigerian player signed by Rangers this summer, arriving after Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo and the midfielder has been fantastic since the start of the season, so much so that he has earned a maiden call-up to the Nigeria National Team ahead of a friendly against Ukraine.
Writing in the Scottish Sun, Stewart said : ''The kid is like a proper old-school midfielder in the same way his gaffer was.
''One minute he’ll drop deep and pick up the ball, the next he’s driving forward and pushing his team on.
''Having seen Aribo, right, a few times I can see why Gerrard was so keen to get in ahead of others to get him.
''He looks like one of the best pieces of business of any side this window.''

The 23-year-old Aribo had attracted interest from several Premier League and Championship clubs before Steven Gerrard convinced him to join Rangers.
