'Best Individual Defensive Performance By A Chelsea Defender This Season' - Tomori Singled Out For Praise
Published: September 02, 2019
Nigerian defender Fikayo Tomori was singled out for praise by The Sun despite Chelsea's disappointing 2-2 draw with Sheffield United in which he made his full Premier League debut.
Three years after making his Premier League debut on the final day of the 2015-16 season, Tomori was selected by manager Frank Lampard to partner Kurt Zouma in central defence and he proved his worth.
Lampard is faced with a selection headache after the international break with experienced central defender Antonio Rudiger set to return to the squad and he has to choose one of Tomori, Zouma or Andreas Christensen to play alongside the German.
The English newspaper wrote on Tomori : ''Tomori impressed with arguably the best individual defensive performance by a Blues defender this season.
''He didn't put a foot wrong all game, physically dominating the Sheffield United strikers and helping to marshal the back four.

''He played neat and tidy when he needed to and also played no-nonsense when it was needed.
''Lampard continues to trust his youth and looks like he's unearthed another diamond in the centre-back.''
