Two Nigerian Strikers Score For Manchester United In Eight-Goal Thriller Against Leicester City U18
Promising Nigerian striker Shola Shoretire scored his first competitive goal for Manchester United U18s as they were held to a 4-4 draw by Leicester City in an U18 Premier League Cup match at Aon Training Complex on Saturday, September 28.

The 15-year-old was among three players of Nigerian descent named in United's starting XI, the others being Dillon Hoogerwerf and Ayodeji Sotona, while Leicester's first-year scholar Daniel Obi was an unused substitute.

The Red Devils scored three goals in the first half and conceded once but saw their lead evaporate in the second half.

Helm opened the scoring with a brilliant free-kick in the 22nd minute after Sotona was fouled, Hockenhall doubled the advantage three minutes later before Tom Sams pulled one back for the visitors.

A minute before half-time, Hoogerwerf rounded the goalkeeper and slotted into an empty net to make it 3-1 and five minutes into the second half, Shoretire scored to give the Red Devils a 4-1 lead.

But Leicester City came back, reducing the deficit through Fitzhugh in the 75th minute before goals from Will Russ and Shane Flynn earned them a point.

Shoretire was the youngest player to feature in the UEFA Youth League aged 14 years and 314 days until the record was broken by Borussia Dortmund's Youssoufa Moukoko (14 years and 301 days) on September 17.
