Ugbo Not Paid Wages As Roda Use Money Sent By Chelsea For Their Own Players
Published: September 30, 2019
Roda JC have used money sent by Chelsea meant for Ike Ugbo's wages to pay their own players, according to digital newspaper NRC.
The Nigerian striker joined Roda on a season-long loan from Chelsea in August 2019 and the agreement between the two clubs stipulates that the Premier League team transfers 43,000 euros each month to the bank account of the Dutch team for Ugbo's wages.
The Chelsea loanee earns 48,000 euros every month of which 43,000 euros comes from Chelsea and the balance is paid by Roda.
While the other players in the Roda squad were paid correctly this month, Ugbo has not received his wages because the money sent by Chelsea was paid to his teammates in the Netherlands.
Roda chiefs have reasoned that it is better to have only one big earner not paid than create panic in the entire squad.
The Kerkrade club have a budget deficit of one million euros, making it more difficult to pay the players their wages next month.
Ugbo has remained focused despite off the field distractions and he's having his best season since turning professional, with 4 goals in his last six appearances for Roda.
