Newcastle United's Hopes Of Signing Super Eagles Star In January Dead In The Water
Published: October 21, 2019
English Premier League club Newcastle United are plotting a move for Nigeria international Victor Osimhen in the January transfer window.
However, the Magpies' hopes of acquiring the in-form striker in the next three months is dead in the water, with French media outlet topmercato.com revealing that Lille are not thinking about selling their number seven until the end of the season.
With five goals in nine matches, Newcastle United have scored the least number of goals in the English top-flight so far this season, along with basement side Watford.
Manager Steve Bruce is in the market for a striker to bolster his attack when the transfer market reopens for business but it appears he has to look for alternatives to the Nigerian.
Lille Sporting Director Luis Campos recently confessed that it would be difficult to keep hold of Osimhen beyond the 2019-2020 campaign following his eye-catching performances in Ligue 1.
The 20-year-old has also been linked with Barcelona and Manchester United and if it turns out to be a bidding war, Newcastle United don't have the financial muscle to compete with their rivals.
