England U19 international of Nigerian descent, Faustino Anjorin was unable to save Chelsea from being eliminated in this season's UEFA Youth League following their 2-1 loss to Valencia at Estadio Antonio Puchades on Wednesday afternoon.
The Blues U19 squad, two-time winners of the competition, failed to progress to the knockout rounds for the first time in their history.
Against the run of play, Joseda prodded the ball home from close range to give Valencia the lead in the 20th minute but the lead lasted only six minutes, with Henry Lawrence restoring parity for the visitors .
Anjorin had a chance to score a go-ahead goal for Chelsea at minute 33 but fired just wide.
Fourteen minutes from time, Jordi Escobar finished from a tight angle to make it 2-1 and gave Valencia their first win in the UEFA Youth League this season.
Anjorin has started four of Chelsea's five matches in the UEFA Youth League, scoring two goals on matchday one against Valencia.
The other Nigeria-eligible player registered by the Blues for the competition, Jordan Aina has not featured in any of their matches so far.
