The Reason Long Range Expert Miguel Azeez Has Been Left Out Of Arsenal Squad To Face Chelsea
Published: January 04, 2020
Nigeria-eligible midfielder Miguel Azeez has been left out of Arsenal's matchday squad against Chelsea in an U18 Premier League fixture at Cobham on Saturday afternoon.
The England U18 international was not named in the Arsenal squad for their FA Youth Cup clash against Cheltenham Town in December.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Azeez, who has been described as a long range shooting expert, is not out of favour and has been unavailable for selection only because of an injury he suffered.
Regarded as one of the top talents at the Arsenal Academy, his sublime strike from outside the area against Aston Villa U18 back in August was picked among the top five goals scored by an Academy player in 2019.
Born to a Nigerian father and Spanish mother, his loyalty lies with the English Football Association for the time being.
There is still Nigerian interest in the ongoing game between Chelsea and Arsenal as Mazeed Ogungbo, Ryan Alebiousu, Nathan Butler-Oyedeji and Daniel Oyegoke all started for the North London club.
