Report: Lyon Interested In Signing Chelsea & Liverpool-Linked Winger Chukwueze
Published: January 09, 2020French Ligue 1 club Lyon have entered the race to sign Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze, according to reports from France.
Transfer market website Foot Mercato claims Lyon have made enquiries over the availability of the Nigeria international after Villarreal rejected a bid for Toko Ekambi.
A potential move to Lyon in the January transfer window is complicated as the 2015 U17 World Cup winner is valued in the region of 63 million euros by the Yellow Submarine and he is also on the radar of the big spenders in the Premier League.
Liverpool and Chelsea are keeping tabs on the Diamond Academy product while he has attracted interest from Arsenal and Leicester City in the past.
In 2019, Chukwueze was nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the best U21 player in the world and the Golden Boy, and recently missed out on the CAF Youth Player of the Year to Real Madrid-owned right-back Achraf Hakimi.
The 20-year-old has been at Villarreal since the summer of 2017 and has played 56 matches for their first team, scoring 11 goals.
