Dynamo Moscow striker Konstantin Tyukavin has described the Super Eagles as one of the strongest opponents Russia will face during the September/October Fifa window for international matches.
For the second time in sixteen months, Nigeria will do battle with Russia in a friendly, with next Tuesday's game scheduled to take place at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium in Nizhny Novgorod
Russia will also face Iran and Namibia, providing Tyukavin and his teammates with the opportunity to test themselves against different styles of opposition.
Asked about the quality of the teams Russia will face, Tyukavin singled out Nigeria and Iran as the strongest teams.
"I think you understand that Iran and Nigeria are the two strongest teams playing in the World Cup," Tyukavin told Sovsport.
"It will be interesting to see how our team plays, our skills, and competes against some of the strongest defenders."
Rangers' Emmanuel Fernandez, Birmingham City's Bright Osayi-Samuel, Basel's Akpe Victory and Brenftord's Benjamin Fredrick are among the defenders manager Eric Chelle has named in his 24-man squad for the friendly against Russia.
Nigeria were forced to a 1-1 draw in their last friendly against Russia, with Tolu Arokodare cancelling out Semi Ajayi's own goal.
