Why Chelsea New Signing Fiabema Did Not Debut Vs Aston Villa; Anjorin Returns
Published: January 18, 2020Chelsea's new signing Bryan Fiabema has yet to debut for their U18 team since transferring to the Premier League club last week, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The Norwegian-Nigerian striker was not in the squad against Bradford City in the FA Youth Cup on January 15 and missed U18 Premier League matches against West Ham United (Jan 11) and Aston Villa (Jan 18).
According to Chelsea Youth, Fiabema has not received the necessary paperwork, specifically international clearance, for him to classed as a bona fide Chelsea player.
An International Transfer Certificate has to be issued by the Norwegian Federation before the English Football Association can give Chelsea the green light to register the striker.
Meanwhile, midfielder Faustino Anjorin has fully recovered from injury and was named in the starting line-up for today's clash against Aston Villa, playing for 62 minutes before he was replaced.
In his first game in a month for Chelsea's youth teams, the England U19 star slotted home from six yards out to give the visitors the lead but they eventually lost 3-2.
Chelsea's Jordan Aina and Aston Villa's England U17 midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka went the distance for their respective teams.
