Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has selected Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi as his best Nigerian player.
The former England central defender made this known during his recent visit to Nigeria, at the Guinness Night Football Pan African extravaganza tour in Lagos.
Alex Iwobi (Everton), Isaac Success, Tom Dele-Bashiru (both Watford), Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City) and Manchester United's deadline day signing Odion Ighalo are currently on the books of Premier League teams and Brighton's Leon Balogun was loaned out to Championship outfit Wigan Athletic last month.
Samuel Chukwueze is at Villarreal, Chidozie Awaziem and Kenneth Omeruo at CD Leganes, while the likes of Moses Simon, Victor Osimhen, Ola Aina, Oghenekaro Etebo and William Troost-Ekong also play for clubs in the top five European Leagues.
Ferdinand opted for Ndidi as the pick of the bunch and highlighted the qualities of the Foxes number 25.
"I like Ndidi because he is fantastic, he works for everyone, he is not selfish, he is my favourite Nigerian footballer and I really admire him," Ferdinand told The Guardian Nigeria, when asked to name his favourite Nigerian player.
A product of Nath Boys Academy Lagos, Ndidi has appeared in 109 Premier League matches, scoring 6 goals, since joining Leicester City in January 2017.
