Twelve Players Of Nigerian Descent Named In Arsenal's Updated Premier League Squad List
Published: February 06, 2020
Twelve players of Nigerian descent have been included in Arsenal's updated Premier League squad list published on the official website of the English Premier League on Thursday.
Following
the conclusion of the January transfer window, Premier League clubs are
required to submit an updated squad for the remainder of the 2019-2020
season.
Apart from the 25-man squads, clubs are
permitted
to submit an additional list of their registered U21 players who are
eligible over and above the squad limit of 25 players and this explains
why Arsenal have as many as 12 Nigeria-eligible players on their roster.
Goalkeepers Arthur Okonkwo and Ovie
Ejeheri have made the squad list along with defenders Tolaji Bola,
Mazeed Ogungbo, Joseph Olowu, Tobi Omole and Daniel Oyegoke, midfielder
Miguel Azeez and attack-minded quartet Ryan Alebiosu, Bukayo Saka,
Folarin Balogun and Nathan Butler-Oyedeji.
A
thirteenth player listed, James Olayinka is not available for selection
after he was farmed out on loan to League Two club Northampton Town for
the remainder of this campaign.
For the 2019-20 season, U21 players must be born on or after 1 January 1998.
