Arsenal Center Back Olowu Hoping To Catch Mikel Arteta's Eye On Loan At Cork City
Published: March 15, 2020
Nigerian-born central defender Joseph Olowu is hoping to catch the eye of Arsenal first team coach Mikel Arteta during his loan spell at League of Ireland Premier Division club Cork City, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Olowu has been one of the few bright sparks in what has been a dismal season for Cork City, with the Rebel Army losing all but one of their matches in the division after five rounds, which puts them second from bottom in the standings.
Cork City confirmed the loan signing of the 20-year-old just before the start of the 2020 season and he has gone the distance in every single game played by the club in the league.
The young center back has endeared himself to the Cork City supporters, winning the Player of the Month for February, an award decided by fans.
Blessed with quick anticipation, ability to read the game, aerial prowess and long range of passing, Olowu is the main reason why Cork City have not shipped in more than 2.2 goals per game.
The plan is for him to play at least 20 matches for Cork City before returning to Arsenal in the summer.
