'People Said Manchester United Had Lost It' - Super Eagles Official On Ighalo Deadline Day Move
Published: March 16, 2020Super Eagles technical assistant cum scout Tunde Adelakun has commented on Odion Ighalo's deadline day move from Shanghai Shenhua to Manchester United in the January transfer window.
Manchester United's move for Ighalo after failing to capture Norwegian striker Joshua King was heavily criticized, with fans and pundits alike labeling it a desperate move, despite the former Nigeria international having Premier League experience from his days at Watford.
The 30-year-old has silenced all his critics who are now his biggest fans, scoring 4 goals in his first three starts for the Red Devils, leading to speculation in the media that he has earned himself a permanent move.
Adelakun admitted that he has drawn inspiration from the story on Ighalo and says the striker deserves being in the spotlight as he chronicled the career of the former Lyn Oslo and Granada man.
"When it was announced, people laughed at the idea. People said Manchester United had ‘lost it’. ‘What are they doing signing someone like Ighalo – who was past his prime?’ The list of people who had a bad word or two to say was endless," Adelakun said on his official webpage.
"But this boy is a fighter, and I always told him, like I am telling all my readers today, that ‘You are not done, until you are done’."

He added : "Odion Ighalo today has proved that he is not done. He has banged in 4 goals in 8 games for his team. And now, the multitude of people who had maligned him and said all the negatives about him have all flooded social media pages and singing his praises.
"He has managed to do better than silence his critics. He has actually got them singing the opposite tune to what they were singing before.
"And he is laughing. Odion Ighalo is today’s inspiration – true evidence that you truly are not done, until you are done."
Ighalo called time on his international career with the Super Eagles after winning the top scorer award at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
