'It's Always Good To Score' - West Ham's Afolayan Delighted To Net Brace Vs Derby County
Published: March 18, 2020
West Ham striker Dapo Afolayan was delighted to net a brace as the Hammers defeated Derby County on penalties to qualify for the semifinals of the Premier League International Cup on Tuesday, March 10.
The 22-year-old converted a first time cross to open the scoring after five minutes, then made it 2-0 three minutes later when he turned and fired into the bottom corner.
Unfortunately for Afolayan he could not complete the game after picking up an injury and had to make way for Bernardo Rusa before the start of the second half.
"It’s always good to score. We started the game really well, moving the ball well, and when the ball came in the box twice I pounced on it. We built from there as a group really," said Afolayan to West Ham's official website.
"I thought we dominated the game and could have scored loads more, but personally it felt really good the first half, especially getting the two goals."

It was honours even at the end of extra-time with the game locked at 3-3.
Nigerian defenders Tunji Akinola and Josh Okocha were among the West Ham players successful from the spot while ex-Manchester United starlet, Mipo Odubeko who was a late substitute, missed his kick as the visitors ran out 6-5 winners on penalties.
