Aerial Battles Win Percentage : Nigeria Target Jordan Torunarigha Is Bundesliga's Best
Published: March 27, 2020
Nigeria Football Federation target Jordan Torunarigha has been ranked the top player in terms of percentage of aerial duels won over the course of the 2019-2020 season, the official website of the German Bundesliga has reported.
To be eligible to be included in the ranking, a player must have contested at least twenty aerial duels.
Hertha BSC's central defender Torunarigha has won 32 of his 39 aerial duels to place first, more than 82 percent of the headers he has contested.
The 22-year-old found game time hard to come by in the first half of the season but forced his way into the starting lineup in 2020, starting six of the eight games played by Hertha BSC in the German top-flight.
Since his debut in the Bundesliga on February 4, 2017, he has found the back of the net on five occasions and showcased his aerial ability by scoring four of the goals through headers.
Schalke 04's Salif Sane (81.03), Bayern Munich's Niklas Süle (80.95), Freiburg's Nico Schlotterbeck (80) and Borussia Dortmund's Axel Witsel (78.57) are the next ranked players in that order.
