'They Have Been Consistent For 10 Years' - Etebo Picks His Choice Between Messi And Ronaldo
Published: April 25, 2020
Stoke City-owned midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo believes Lionel Messi is a better player than Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo but refused to elaborate why he picked the Barcelona captain.
The Super Eagles star has played against Messi three times in his career - twice with Las Palmas and Getafe in La Liga and the 2-1 loss to Argentina at the 2018 World Cup - but has never faced Ronaldo.
Etebo noted that Messi and Ronaldo have been consistent over the last ten years, with the pair sharing 11 Ballon d'Or trophies between them.
While the South American has won the award six times most recently in 2019, the Portuguese has won it five times in his career.
"They have been so consistent for the past ten years, I will go for Messi if I have to pick one. The reason is best known to me," Etebo said to The Punch in an Instagram conversation.
Etebo joined Getafe on loan in the January transfer window and has appeared in seven matches across all competitions for the Madrid based club.
