Why Return Of Ex-Arsenal Striker Akpom To England Is Best For His International Career
Published: April 26, 2020
Chuba Akpom has only recently began to exemplify the reasons why he was highly revered at Arsenal during his teething years as a pro, but now it is PAOK who are reaping the benefits, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The striker has hit the ground running this season since earning a permanent move to Greece, and has hit ten goals in 33 competitive outings for the Toumba Stadium outfit, as the second-placed team appear on course to finish in the European qualification zones.
Alongside Karol Swiderski and Dimitris Limnios, the Nigerian has created a rather effective strike-force in the First Super League, with their tally of 50 league goals only second-best to Olympiacos, and seven of which has been dispatched by him.
But then, it is of importance that the 24-year-old who is on the radar of the NFF gets to take his craft back to more glamorous surroundings.
With European football on the horizon for PAOK, Akpom could use it as a springboard to court admiration from more illustrious angles.
While he remains in the thoughts of the national team selectors, a move to one of Europe's top five leagues would not be a bad idea for a player who is playing to catch the heart of his national team coaches.
With the national team becoming dominated with players representing clubs in these countries, it is becoming evident the criteria for making the team and that is one factor the former Arsenal starlet should be considering.
And then, a player with the talent like his should be targeting to make his name with a top club and win the biggest trophies available.
With his childhood pal Alex Iwobi having already expressed his desire to see Akpom play alongside him in the national team one day, perhaps a switch for the striker to one of Europe's top sides will fast track the process.
