Super Eagles Star Prays His Younger Brother At Chelsea Ends Up Being Better Than Him
Published: April 30, 2020
Super Eagles star Ola Aina is hoping his younger brother at Chelsea, Jordan Aina ends up being better than him in the long run.
The two Ainas share some similarities as they are both versatile fullbacks who started their careers as wingers, played internationally for England U16 team, came through the ranks before signing a scholarship and debuting for Chelsea U18 teams.
While the older Aina was able to make his professional debut for The Blues before ending his association with the club last season, it is all but confirmed that Jordan will bid farewell to the London club in the coming weeks without playing for the first team.
Swansea City have been sounded out as a possible destination for the 18-year-old, having trained with the Welsh club in February 2020 with a view to a potential move.
Asked if his brother has signed a professional contract with Chelsea, Ola Aina told Don EE in an Instagram conversation : "No Jordan signed a scholarship. One day I want people to say, 'Ola your younger brother is slightly better than you'.
"That's my prayer for him, he's working hard."
Jordan Aina made his debut for Chelsea in the UEFA Youth League against Lille in December, going the distance in a 1-1 draw, and has not featured for the youth team since January, raising speculation that he is set for the exit door.
He has played nonstop at Chelsea since U9 level after joining from local club Aveley FC following a successful trial.
