Tottenham Hotspur Guru Reveals Competition Awaits QPR's Eze If He Joins North London Club
Published: May 18, 2020
Football London's Tottenham correspondent Alasdair Gold has given his thoughts on the club's links with exciting Queen Park Rangers midfielder Eberechi Eze, with a £20 million summer switch already being mooted.
However, Gold feels a lot of competition will await him at the club, with the plethora of midfield options already at disposal, while the coronavirus-enforced economic crisis makes sending him on loan out of question.
Quizzed on if the Nigerian is a player the club is looking at, he said,
"Yes he is. He's a very talented player and Tottenham have scouted him during the season. They also have a really good relationship with QPR and that will help with any potential negotiations.
"On top of that he's a Base client and Spurs have good links with that agency.
"The main hurdles for me are that Tottenham are packed with attacking midfield options right now and there will be competition for Eze."
He continued : "The 21-year-old will want to continue playing regular first-team football and it might be that Spurs would have to pay the money and then loan him straight out.
"Would that be something they could afford to do this year with all of the financial issues surrounding football and the huge gate receipt losses taken even with the season resuming.
"Spurs have to decide whether, like Steven Bergwijn, he's too good a young player to pass up on or whether this year it's just not doable".
Eze, 21 is having his best season as a professional, with 12 goals to his name in the English Championship as well as eight assists to boot has drawn links with several top clubs including Spurs.
