Super Eagles Striker Osimhen Succeeds Nicolas Pepe As Lille's Player Of The Season
Published: June 03, 2020
Nigeria international Victor Osimhen has been named Lille's Player of the Season for the 2019-2020 campaign.
The 21-year-old finished the season with 18 goals in all competitions, helping Lille qualify for next season's Europa League.
He was fourth in the ranking of top goal scorers in the Ligue 1 Conforama, tied with Brazil superstar Neymar with 13 goals, and his other strikes came in the Champions League (2), Coupe de la Ligue (2) and Coupe de France (1).
He succeeds Ivory Coast national-teamer Nicolas Pépé, who won the award for the 2018-2019 season before his big money move to Arsenal.
Osimhen was voted Lille's top player ahead of Benjamin André and Renato Sanches, who finished second and third respectively.
The former Wolfsburg and Sporting Charleroi starlet, who was named as the French Ligue 1 Player of the Month for September 2019, is in the running for the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé, awarded to the best African player in Ligue 1.
