Chelsea Sweat On The Fitness Of Ex-Golden Eaglets Invitee Ahead Of New Season
Published: September 05, 2020
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Chelsea U18 coach Ed Brand is sweating on the fitness of former Nigeria U17 invitee Prince Adegoke with the new season around the corner.
The highly-rated goalkeeper did not take part in The Blues final pre-season friendly against Crystal Palace at Cobham on Saturday morning as a result of fitness issues.
Though Adegoke was present at Chelsea's training ground, he remained rooted to the bench for the entirety of today's clash with the young Eagles.
The 2003-born glovesman was involved in the penultimate friendly against Southampton earlier in the week but twisted his ankle in training two days ago.
Adegoke signed scholarship forms with Chelsea in July and the deal will be upgraded to a professional contract when he turns 17 in November 2020.
He has been included in Chelsea U18 matchday squads for competitive matches on five occasions but was an unused substitute.
Adegoke is on the radar of the Nigeria Football Federation and was officially invited to a Golden Eaglets training camp before the 2019 FIFA U17 World Cup but couldn't travel to Abuja due to club and educational commitments.
