Liverpool No. 10 Babajide Bags Assist In Season Opener Against Durham
Published: September 06, 2020
England U21 international of Nigerian descent, Rinsola Babajide wore the number 10 jersey for the first time in her Liverpool FC Women career as they were held to a 1-1 draw in their season opener against Durham at Prenton Park on Sunday afternoon, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The former Crystal Palace and Watford striker wore the number 20 shirt last term but has switched to the number 10 following the departure of Scotland international Christie Murray in the off season.
Babajide looked dangerous in the opening minutes but couldn't break the deadlock as her shots were off target.
The breakthrough arrived in the 38th minute and Babajide was involved in the build-up to the goal when Furness finished low into the net after a lofted pass over the top from the Anglo-Nigerian.
The Reds, who are competing in the Women's Championship this term following their demotion from the top-flight, were denied all three points late on with Durham fashioning an equaliser through Hepple.
The 22-year-old Babajide put in a 90-minute shift in her first competitive appearance of the 2020-2021 season.
