'He Has The Attributes To Play There' - Leicester City Boss On Playing Ndidi At Center Back
Published: September 18, 2020
Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers has suggested that Wilfred Ndidi could continue his role at center back when his side face Burnley at the King Power Stadium on Sunday.
The Nigeria international helped goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel to keep a clean sheet on matchday one, playing as an emergency central defender as a result of the unavailability of Johnny Evans, Wes Morgan and Filip Benkovic.
Morgan is seemingly in contention to face the Clarets, having trained with the squad all week.
Rodgers is of the opinion that Ndidi has the attributes of a good central defender but clarified that the holding midfielder will return to his natural position in due course.
In quotes carried by BBC Leicester City Sport during Rodger's pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, the Foxes manager said : "Wilf is a player that I have real confidence in.
"He played the position very well and he has the attributes to play there. We don’t want him there for a long period of time".
According to Whoscored, Ndidi made a team-high four clearances against West Brom, made two interceptions and two tackles and finished the match with a game-high 93 passes.
