New Super Eagles Star Sanusi Provides Assist On Full Debut For Porto Vs Sporting CP
Published: October 18, 2020
New Super Eagles star Zaidu Sanusi made his full debut for Porto in their Classico clash against Sporting CP on Saturday night at the Estádio José Alvalade in Lisbon which ended with both sides sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Sanusi's two previous appearances for the Portuguese champions came off the bench against Sporting Braga and Boavista.
The left-back moved quickly to dispel fears that he would not be available for yesterday's match vs Sporting CP after limping off with a suspected groin problem in the second half of Nigeria's 1-1 draw with Tunisia on October 13.
Manager Sérgio Conceição showed huge faith in the Nigerian to hand him a spot in the starting lineup considering that he didn't take part in the penultimate workout on Thursday due to his late arrival to Porto after international duty.
The home team took the lead through Nuno Santos on nine minutes but the visitors replied through Mateus Uribe, assisted by Sanusi, in the 24th minute.
The Nigeria international delivered a pinpoint cross into the box and the Colombian volleyed home for 1-1.
Just before half-time, Porto got a go-ahead goal but Luciano Vietto blasted a shot into the net from close range in the 87th minute to give Sporting CP a 2-2 draw.
