Nigerian-Born Defender Returns To Arsenal Next Month Following Cork City's Relegation
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Nigerian-born defender Joseph Olowu will not be extending his stay at Cork City by a single day, meaning he will return to his parent club Arsenal as from November 8, 2020.

Cork City lost their Republic of Ireland Premier Division status on Saturday following a 2-1 defeat suffered at the hands of Sligo Rovers at The Showgrounds.

If Cork City had avoided defeat to Sligo Rovers, the best case scenario would have seen them contest the promotion/relegation play-off  only if they won their last match of the season at home to Derry City and Finn Harps drop points in their remaining fixtures.

Olowu was one of the few bright sparks for a Cork City team that under-performed, starting fifteen games from a possible seventeen in the division.

The 20-year-old was not in the squad against Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers only because of an injury.

The plan is for Olowu to see out the first half of the season with Arsenal U23s, a welcome boost for manager Steve Bould as he is missing the services of several of his players who have been loaned out to gain first team experience, including Tolaji Bola and James Olayinka.

Olowu could be heading out on another loan move in the January transfer window if he gets the green light from Arsenal higher-ups.
