'Lack Of Concentration' -Everton Hero Osman Blames Iwobi, One Other Player For Saints Opener
Published: October 25, 2020
Everton have surrendered their unbeaten start to the 2020-2021 season following their 2-0 defeat suffered at the hands of Southampton at the St Mary's Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Toffees conceded two goals in the space of eight first half minutes; James Ward-Prowse with a spectacular first and their afternoon went from bad to worse when Che Adams doubled the Saints lead via a deflection.
Alex Iwobi was included in Everton's starting lineup for the first time in this season's Premier League but went off at half-time.
Everton hero Leon Osman believes the the Nigeria international and Gylfi Sigurdsson, who was returning to the lineup, are to blame for the first goal conceded by Carlo Ancelotti's team.
Speaking on Premier League Productions at half-time,Osman said : "The way he finds himself in that position, takes it so well with his left foot and finishes it fantastically well.
"But you see here, it's 2 v 2 pretty much, Alan's telling them where to go, Iwobi and Sigurdsson both have a man and suddenly one simple movement both of them are out of position.
"Suddenly Alan is too far away to do anything about it and then Everton defenders are always running back towards the goal, it's just that lack of concentration from two players who have come into the side today who haven't been involved in the regular decision making out there on the field."
