Official : Former Youth Team Captain Olowu Returns To Arsenal As Loan Spell Ends
Published: November 02, 2020
League Of Ireland Premier Division club Cork City have officially announced that Nigerian-born defender Joseph Olowu has returned to his parent club Arsenal.
Olowu initially joined Cork City on loan until the end of June but the agreement was extended until the end of the 2020 Premier Division season as a result of football activities being halted across the globe due to the coronavirus pandemic.
With Cork City losing their top-flight status after defeat to Sligo Rovers, it doesn't make sense keeping him despite the club having one more game to contest against Derry City on November 8.
"We can confirm that Joseph Olowu's loan spell at the club has come to an end," Cork City said in a statement on Saturday.
"Everyone at City wishes "Big Joe" the best for the future!"

A former captain of Arsenal U18 side, Olowu appeared in 16 official matches for Cork City, logging 1,400 minutes and was yellow carded five times.
The 20-year-old joined Arsenal from Charlton Athletic seven years ago.
