Nigeria-Eligible Strikers On Target As Man Utd Beat Tottenham Hotspur U23 In Six-Goal Thriller
Published: November 22, 2020
Four Nigeria-eligible youngsters were on parade at Leigh Sports Village Stadium as an in-form Manchester United team defeated Tottenham Hotspur 4-2 in a Premier League 2 clash on Sunday evening.
2004-born striker Shola Shoretire started for the Red Devils, while ex-Arsenal defender Tobi Omole and striker Kion Etete were in the Tottenham Hotspur U23 squad captained by Jubril Okedina.
Despite being one of the shortest players on the pitch, Shoretire put Manchester United on their way when he opened the scoring with a bullet header past goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman as the Tottenham defenders failed to track his run in the 13th minute.
Midway through the first half, Etete cancelled out Shoretire's goal, finishing from close range after meeting Brooklyn Lyons-Foster's cross.
United's other scorers were Arnau Puigmal (2) and Anthong Elanga while Harvey White also got on the scoresheet for the London team.
All of the four Anglo-Nigerian players went the full ninety for their respective teams.
Up next, United travel to West Ham United in their next league fixture on November 27 while Spurs face Leicester City three days later.
