Red-hot Afolayan Scores In Fourth Consecutive PL2 Game As West Ham Beat Man Utd
Published: November 28, 2020
Nigeria-eligible striker Dapo Afolayan was on the scoresheet as West Ham United beat Manchester United 2-0 in a Premier League 2 clash at Rush Green on Friday night.
The Chelsea product is seemingly in contention to be nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month next week on the back of his brilliant form in November 2020, taking his tally for the month to five goals in four games with his double against Manchester United.
Afolayan has found the net in each of his last four games for the Hammers in the division, with his streak starting against Derby County on November 2 before netting in back-to-back matches against Liverpool, Leicester City and Manchester United.
Against the Red Devils yesterday, the 23-year-old gave the Hammers the lead with a far post tap-in in the 33rd minute.
A minute into the second half, he doubled the home team's advantage through a well-taken spot kick, awarded after Chesters went down in the area.
Oladapo has yet to make his first team debut since moving to West Ham in February 2018 and has been farmed out on loan to Oldham Athletic and Mansfield Town to get a taste of first team football.
Former Nigeria U17 international goalkeeper Daniel Jinadu was an unused substitute for West Ham, while Shola Shoretire went the full ninety for Manchester United.
