Man Utd's Shoretire Tearing Up Premier League 2, Bags Another Assist Vs Southampton
Published: December 04, 2020
Manchester United Academy continue to produce talents and Nigeria-eligible striker Shola Shoretire is being tipped for a first team breakthrough as a teenager going by his performances in the Premier League 2.
Manchester United stars Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Timothy Fosu-Mensah, Brandon Williams and Scott McTominay rose through the academy ranks before earning promotions to the first team.
Still only 16, Shoretire's age-mates are competing in the U18 Premier League but United youth team coaches have spotted his potential and fast-tracked him into the U23 set up.
The versatile striker has had a brilliant start to life in the Premier League 2 and has been productive in recent matches.
In a 3-1 win over Southampton B on Friday night, the diminutive player provided the assist for United's second goal netted by Facundo Pellistri, playing a brilliant through ball from inside his own half thirty seconds into the second half.
Shoretire was involved in the build up to his side's third goal when Puigmal netted from a rebound after latching onto a pass from the Anglo-Nigerian.
Shoretire is in his best form of the season so far with two goal and two assists to his name in his last four matches in the Premier League 2.
The first year scholar has been nominated for United's Goal of the Month for November 2020 for his headed goal against Tottenham Hotspur.
