Arsenal Boss Arteta Calls Up Two Nigeria-Eligible Teenagers To First Team Training Pre-Tottenham
Published: December 05, 2020Arsenal first team manager Mikel Arteta called up two Nigeria-eligible teenagers to first team training on Saturday ahead of the first north London derby of the 2020-2021 season against Tottenham Hotspur at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The 18-year-old central midfielder Miguel Azeez and 19-year-old striker Folarin Balogun are presumably in the provisional squad list as they were both involved in the final workout held at London Colney.
As good as he has been for Arsenal youth teams, Balogun has not made consecutive appearances for the first team since making his professional debut against Dundalk in October.
The Hale End Academy product has yet to make a matchday squad for a Premier League game.
And the same applies to Spanish-Nigerian youngster Azeez though he has been included in matchday squads for back-to-back Europa League matches, against Molde and Rapid Vienna.
He is being considered for a first team role thanks to his performances for the youth teams.
There is a huge incentive going into this game as Spurs would remain top if they win while the Gunners could move closer to the top half of the table if they manage to win their first game in four attempts.
