Published: December 26, 2020
Speaking to the Matchday Programme, young Arsenal midfielder James Sweet has given the lowdown on his Arsenal Academy teammates and highlighted the major attributes of two teenagers of Nigerian descent.
A player for Arsenal U18s, Sweet picked Mazeed Ogungbo when asked to name the strongest academy player.
Ogungbo, 18, joined the Gunners at U13 level after he was spotted playing for his Sunday league side by Brian Stapleton.
He was initially an attack-minded player capable of playing as a striker, number 10 and winger before he was converted to a left-back upon his arrival at Hale End.
A second year scholar, Ogungbo was regularly featuring for Arsenal U18s while still a schoolboy and can be handy in central defence if needed.
On the best player he has faced in his career, Sweet went for former Chelsea attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala.
Born in Germany, Musiala played three games for the Blues in the U18 Premier League before Bayern Munich made a move for his services in 2019 following the Bundesliga club's failure to sign another academy product Callum Hudson-Odoi.
