Ekong Pleased To See Ighalo At Old Trafford; Man Utd Coach Solskjaer Fails To Keep His Promise
It had been a foregone conclusion that Odion Ighalo was set to play a part in Saturday's Emirates FA Cup meeting between Manchester United and Watford, with coach Ole Gunnar Solskjær vowing pre-match that the former Nigeria international would feature off the bench.

However, the game didn't go as planned despite Scott McTominay's header giving the Red Devils an early lead in the fifth minute as the visitors searched for an equaliser.

Looking for an insurance goal, the Norwegian football tactician brought on Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial, two strikers ahead of Ighalo in the pecking order, in the second half and this left the Nigerian rooted to the bench for the entirety of the game.

Watford's William Troost-Ekong started and was in action for 76 minutes and his teammate Joseph Hungbo played the last 14 minutes, a day after his loan spell at non-leaguers Aldershot Town ended.

Troost-Ekong was delighted to have a catch up with his former Super Eagles teammate Ighalo after the game at Old Trafford and took to Twitter to post a picture of himself and the United number 25.

The Watford center back wrote : "Great to see my big brother @ighalojude ! Keep flying the flag for us 🇳🇬😁".

Manchester United have six more games to contest, including five in the Premier League, before Ighalo's loan deal expires on January 31.
