Tottenham's Etete, Arsenal's Balogun Shortlisted For Premier League 2 Player Of The Month
Published: February 08, 2021Arsenal whizkid Folarin Balogun and Tottenham Hotspur striker Kion Etete have been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for January, the official website of the Premier League informed on Monday.
While Balogun helped Arsenal register one win and a draw in the division, Etete was Tottenham Hotspur's standout player in their three league games last month as the north London team were undefeated having won twice and drawn once.
The Arsenal U23 captain bagged a hat-trick against Brighton & Hove with one of the goals in the running for the club's Goal of the Month award.
Etete found the net against the Seagulls on January 15 and also provided an assist in that game, before netting his fifth of the season in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal on January 29.
The five other nominees for the monthly award are : Louie Barry (Aston Villa), Ethan Bristow (Reading), Rhys Hughes (Everton), Joe Hugill (Manchester United) and Jacob Wakeling (Leicester City).
The Premier League's Football Development Panel will decide the winner in due course.
Leeds United’s Sam Greenwood (September), Manchester City duo Cole Palmer (October) and Liam Delap (November) and Chelsea’s Lewis Bate (December) have won the award this season.
