Aina Scrambles In Corner Kick Taken By Lookman As Fulham Play Yet Another Draw
Published: February 17, 2021
Fulham arrived Turf Moor with their hope renewed following their 2-0 success at Everton and they kept the momentum going with a draw against one of the teams they are in pursuit of, Burnley on Wednesday evening.
Cottagers boss Scott Parker named four players of Nigerian descent in his starting lineup for the second straight game - Tosin Adarabiyo, Ola Aina, Ademola Lookman and Josh Maja.
Heading into the rescheduled fixture, much of the attention was focused on Josh Maja following his brace against the Toffees but the Bordeaux loanee was not able to build on it having fired blanks.
Burnley applied plenty of pressure in the first half but Fulham stood firm, but things got livelier in the second half.
The deadlock was broken by Aina in the 49th minute, the left-back got himself in a good position, managed to shape his body and diverted the ball into the net after a Lookman corner kick caused problems for the Burnley defence.
Very quickly the Clarets scored the equalising goal in the 53rd minute as Ashley Barnes slotted past Areola after he was teed up by Rodriguez.
Nineteen minutes from time, Maja came close to netting the winning goal but Nick Pope gathered his goal bound effort.
Aina moved across to the right-back position after Antonee Robinson replaced Kenny Tete in the 79th minute.
