England Working Harder Than Germany, Nigeria To Secure The Services Of Chelsea Academy Product
Published: February 18, 2021
According to German newspaper Bild, the English Football Association are working harder than their German and Nigerian counterparts to secure the services of Chelsea academy product Jamal Musiala.
The Bayern Munich teen sensation was born in Stuttgart to a Nigerian father and German mother and grew up in London, making him eligible to represent the Three Lions, Super Eagles and Die Mannschaft, but he's still undecided which country to represent.
The newspaper says that Gareth Southgate and his coaching staff are in pole position for Musiala and are attempting to convince him to pledge his allegiance to England by telling him he is the future of the Three Lions along with Borussia Dortmund super talents Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham.
Musiala made his debut for England U21s in the last international break, coming off the bench for the last 18 minutes of a 3-1 win over Andorra in the U21 EURO qualifiers before starting against Albania.
Germany coach Joachim Löw has publicly courted the German-Nigerian attacking midfielder and plans to invite him for next month's games, having watched him in the win against Hoffenheim last month.
Musiala is expected to sign a long-term deal with Bayern Munich this month, presumably on his 18th birthday on February 26.
He spent eights years at the Chelsea academy before he was poached by Bayern Munich in the summer of 2019.
