Fiabema's Goal Drought Extends To Eight Games As Chelsea Are Beaten By Liverpool U23s
Published: February 19, 2021
At Kingsmeadow tonight, Chelsea were beaten 3-2 by Liverpool in a Premier League 2 clash with Norwegian-Nigerian striker Bryan Fiabema in action for the Blues.
In a 3-4-3 formation, manager Andrew Myers fielded Fiabema as the center forward and he was flanked by Thierno Ballo and Harvey Vale.
Fiabema's goal drought has now extended to eight games after firing blanks against Liverpool.
Ballo gave Chelsea the lead when he finished nicely from a Tino Livrameno pass, but goals from Jake Cain and Tyler Morton saw the Reds take a 2-1 lead at the break.
Leighton Stewart scored Liverpool's third goal ten minutes after the restart before Livramento pulled a goal back on 73 minutes to set up a nervy ending but the visitors nullified Chelsea's attacking threat and secured a win.
Fiabema started 2020-2021 in blistering fashion, scoring five goals in his first six matches across all competitions, and was recognized for his brilliant displays after he was nominated for October's Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.
Against Liverpool, he was replaced by Jude Soonsup-Bell after fifty-nine minutes.
