Watford join race to sign younger brother of former Nigeria international
Published: June 13, 2021
Watford are the latest English Premier League club linked with a move for Daryl Dike, the younger brother of former Nigeria international Bright Dike.
Last Word on Sports citing the Athletic says the younger Dike has been added to list of players wanted by the Hornets in the summer transfer window.
The Orlando City rising star is the second Nigeria-eligible striker the Hornets have been credited with an interest in in recent weeks, after Chelsea's Ike Ugbo.
Watford face competition for the signature of Dike, with Manchester United, Chelsea, Leeds United and Everton among the Premier League clubs also monitoring his situation.
The 21-year-old prodigy has returned to Major League Soccer side Orlando City after spending the second half of last season on loan at Barnsley, for whom he scored nine goals in nineteen appearances in the Championship.
Despite only 44 appearances as a professional, Dike won't come cheap, with Orlando City valuing him in the region of
£14 million.
£14 million.
If his move to Watford goes through, he would compete with Super Eagles star Isaac Success for a spot in attack.
