Anglo-Nigerian wonderkid Miguel Azeez is back in business ahead of the 2021-2022 season, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Prior
to Friday's workout at London Colney, the Hale End Academy product had
not been pictured training with the first team in pre-season.
Manager Mikel Arteta promoted Azeez to first team training on
Friday, monitoring the midfielder at close quarters along with Folarin
Balogun and goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo.
For
the forthcoming season, Azeez is no more age-eligible for Arsenal U18s
squad and will now stay with the U23s on a permanent basis.
Although the squad number has not yet been confirmed by Arsenal, Azeez was sporting a new shirt number, 38, (see photo) as he rubbed shoulders with the first team stars on Friday.
Interestingly,
the last wearer of the number 38 was another player of Nigerian
descent, Balogun, who has changed his shirt number to 26 following his
first team promotion.
Azeez donned number
66 when he made his professional debut for the Gunners in a Europa
League fixture against Dundalk back in December.
