Another Nigeria-eligible player handed new Arsenal shirt number
Published: July 25, 2021
Another player of Nigerian descent in Joel Ideho has been allocated
a new shirt number at Arsenal ahead of the forthcoming 2021-2022
season.
Youngsters Folarin Balogun and
goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo have been handed number 26 and 33 respectively
for the new season following their promotion to the first team.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Ideho will play with the number 51 on the back of his jersey in the new season.
In his maiden season with Arsenal youth teams, the Dutch-Nigerian winger wore the number 95 shirt.
Ignasi Miquel, Gilles Sunu and Frank Simek previously donned the number 51 for Arsenal.
Signed
from Ajax Amsterdam last October, Ideho directly participated in eight
goals in thirteen appearances in the U18 Premier League while making
debuts in the FA Youth Cup, EFL Trophy and Premier League 2.
The
18-year-old is expected to play for Arsenal U23s in 2021-2022 and will
be registered in the Premier League squad as an U21 player.
