Arsenal legend Vieira wants Super Eagles hopeful for Palace but faces Watford, Burnley competition
Published: August 01, 2021Three English Premier League clubs are battling to sign Super Eagles hopeful Ademola Lookman this summer, according to reports.
The Sun UK says Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira wants to bolster the Crystal Palace squad with the signing of Lookman on a season-long loan but faces competition from Watford and Burnley, who also fancy the exciting winger.
It is believed that Palace are in pole position for Lookman with RB Leipzig demanding £3.5million loan fee, plus wages of £50,000 a week, which may be too much for other interested clubs.
The 2017 U20 World Cup winner with England was one of the standout players for the Fulham side demoted to the Championship at the end of last season, with a goal involvement of eight in 34 top-flight games.
RB Leipzig farmed out Lookman on loan to the Cottagers for 2020-2021 due a lack of first team opportunities at the Bundesliga club.
Crystal Palace have already landed a player of Nigerian descent this summer in Michael Olise who was acquired from Reading, and have in their ranks Super Eagles target Eberechi Eze.
Lookman has a contract with RB Leipzig until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
