Anjorin sports Andreas Christensen's old shirt number in Chelsea's friendly vs Tottenham
Published: August 05, 2021
Anglo-Nigerian winger Faustino Anjorin wore a new shirt number as he made his first appearance of the pre-season in Chelsea's entertaining 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
It should be noted that Chelsea are yet to confirm their squad numbers for the 2021-2022 campaign but things would become clearer in the coming days if Anjorin is named in the squad list for the UEFA Super Cup against Villarreal.
Anjorin was wearing the number 27 against Tottenham Hotspur, a number last worn by Denmark international Andreas Christensen in the 2018-2019 season.
The England youth international had previously worn number 55 when he made his first team debut in a League Cup clash against Grimsby Town in the 2019-2020 season.
And the following season, he retained the shirt number, wearing the number 55 in outings against Krasnodar, Morecambe and Barnsley.
Apart from Christensen, Chelsea's number 27 jersey was previously held by Jamal Blackman, Nathan Aké, Sam Hutchinson, Mineiro and Jiri Jarosik.
Anjorin has been training with Chelsea's first team since the appointment of Thomas Tuchel as coach.
