Former Liverpool stars among talent spotters coming to Nigeria for scouting programme

Liverpool academy product Mike Newell is among four talent spotters scheduled to attend a scouting programme in Port Harcourt next month, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The scouting programme, organized by Okpalajiaku Sunday Obiora who is the president of De Cardinal Football Academy, will begin on September 22, 2021.
As well as playing for Liverpool, Newell wore the colours of Everton, Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers and West Ham United in his playing days, and also coached Luton Town and Grimsby Town among others.
There is also another scout with a Liverpool connection that will be in attendance, ex-Reds midfielder Kevin Sheedy.
A member of Republic of Ireland's squad to the 1990 World Cup, Sheedy also played for Everton, Newcastle United and Blackpool.
Paul Grey of Elite Tech Football Academy Ltd and Bennetti Jacob Cawley are the other important talent spotters that will grace the scouting tournament in Port Harcourt.
Sixteen youngsters who impress during the scouting programme will travel to Europe for some invitational tournaments.
The zonal scouting programme for the Southwestern states was held in Ibadan 13-23 July 2021, while the Northern and South South/South East will hold August 1-7 and August 10-20 respectively.
